Rah Digga released a teaser song for her forthcoming album called “Warning.” The beat was produced by Nottz. However, this will not be on her album, she’s just licking shots as the song suggests.

Author: Gangstarr Girl | Filed under: Emcees, Hip-Hop, MusicAccording to Honey Magazine, ex Flipmode Squad member, Rah Digga, will finally drop her sophomore album this June. Word on the street is that producer Nottz will be a major part of Digga’s this album. Details are still sketchy but Digga says, “I can’t try to conform to what the [music] industry thinks I should be doing on records I think should be a single, I should try to run after Akon or T-Pain on the hook, I’m just going to do what I love to do.”
Do y’all understand what’s about to go down? Rah Digga is one of the nicest rappers I’ve ever heard! Remember 1999′s classic, Dirty Harriet? That was such a dope but slept on album. Let us reminisce:
I snagged this video of Solange singing “Tell Me” with the Brooklyn based rock group The Dirty Projectors (shouts to all the Williamsburg Hipsters out there lol). Her Twitter rants and melt downs might be questionable but you can’t deny that the girl has talent.

Author: Gangstarr Girl | Filed under: Music, Pop Culture, VideosHer influence is getting out of control. I want to like her as a rapper but I can’t get past the “Barbie” references and the goofy flow. Actually, I used to like her as a rapper but that was back when she did street DVDs and mixtapes. However, I realize that the Nicki Minaj then wouldn’t be as popular as she is now if she hadn’t switched things up. I interviewed her some time in 2008 and we talked about how she wanted to break away from being seen as the sex pot and planned to do things differently. It’s working for her because now people talk more about her weird faces and voice inflections than whether her butt is fake or not, but I’m not a fan of what it’s doing to impressionable minds who can’t tell the difference between entertainment and reality.

Shameless plug: I make a cameo at 6:41.
Part two will be up next week.

Author: Gangstarr Girl | Filed under: Fashion/Style, NailsI caught up with Freeway and Jake One last week at a listening session for their forthcoming album, The Stimulus Package. I initially thought the pair odd and wasn’t sure about what their music would sound like but the album is pretty good. It’s worth purchasing. Here they are briefly talking about why you should cop it:
