Queen Latifah Inks Multi-Year Deal With Netflix
Queen Latifah is teaming up with Netflix for a lucrative multi-year deal for her production company, Flavor Unit.
The Grio reports that Netflix will have first access to Flavor Unit programming, and will be able to stream the company’s movies via their Internet based subscription service.
“We are delighted to work with Queen Latifah to be the exclusive destination for what are sure to be relevant, entertaining movies,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer of Netflix in a press release. “Queen Latifah has a long track record of creating hits and Flavor Unit Entertainment is a fresh and exciting voice in the industry.”
“Shakim and I are thrilled to do business with Netflix. Netflix is such a strong brand and the perfect place to showcase our projects,” said Queen Latifah, who owns Flavor unit with long time business partner Shakim Compere.
Netflix users can look forward to Flavor Unit starting this Spring. It begins with House of Bodies, a thriller starring Terrence Howard, and Percentage, starring Ving Rhames, Cam’ron and Macy Gray.
Flavor Unit has produced Bringing Down the House, Single Ladies and more.
Once again, all hail the queen.
