Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings in ‘Stranger To My Happiness’ [Video]
Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings bring us the new video for the single, “Stranger To My Happiness.” The funky song is about the ups and downs of love and life. The video, directed by Rob Hatch-Miller and Paloma Basu, features the soulful group cast as a wedding band having some fun at the end of the night, when all the guests are gone.
That performance captures Sharon Jones at a point in November sporting a look indicative of her chemotherapy treatments. According to the press release, Jones made a conscious decision that day to not wear a wig. “Not wearing a wig and just being bald was an easy decision for me. I’ve always been me, and that’s not going to change now,” she said.
I absolutely love that.
Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings are gearing up to release their next album, Give the People What They Want (Daptone Records) on January 14.
They’re gearing up for a slew of appearances from Jimmy Fallon to The Ellen Degeneres show and more, which you can find out about at www.sharonjonesandthedapkings.com.
