Barbados Food Wine Rum Festival 2013 – Dinner With Paul Yellin
I cope with cold weather is by fantasizing about Caribbean beaches of yore, especially if I can’t actually take a trip at the moment. I attended the Barbados Food Wine and Rum Festival back in November 2013, for the second time, and had a blast kicking it with the ladies of Parlour Magazine and world renown chefs like Mark McEwan and Paul Yellin.
Last year, Parlour added their own touch to the festival by teaming up with the Barbados Tourism Authority and Mount Gay Rum to create a signature event, #PassportBarbados, which was a dinner party featuring Paul Yellin aka “The Rhum Chef.” Their invited guests gathered at Cin Cin, one of the flyest most romantic restaurants on the island, for a taste of fresh locally sourced Bajan-inspired cuisine prepared by Paul. I caught up with Parlour’s creators, Hillary Crosley and Shannon Washington, to chat about their inspiration behind creating the event and what keeps them returning to Barbados every year. Hint: It’s the beaches, the weather, the people and the food, of course!
I’ve been sitting on this footage since then (I’ll do better, I promise) but I figured this snowy #ThrowbackThursday would be a good time to share it.
Enjoy.
Do you plan to go the the Barbados Food Wine and Rum Festival this year? If you’ve already been, what was your experience like?
