I’m the worst when it comes to my GangStarr Girl email. Most people don’t respond at all. Me, I just take forever. Like, months. It’s not that I’m trying to be rude–trust me, I also know what it’s like to not get a response (wackness)–I just get a lot of mail and it gets very overwhelming, especially when I have a separate email account to maintain too. It’s just me behind this site and it’s going to stay that way at least for now. But anyway, out of all the artists who email me, some obviously stand out more than others for different reasons (very different reasons). Enter E. Daney. He’s a rapper out of Harlem who wanted me to check out his stuff. (His girl hit me up first, months ago). I checked him out and I wasn’t mad. I liked that he was from Harlem (my hometown) but that he wasn’t trying to be all Dipset or any other Harlem stereotype that you can think of and I liked the street element that he brought without trying to be a thug. I could go into more detail with my thoughts, but I won’t this time because he is the inaugural artist for my new blog feature called “Dear GangStarr Girl,” where I will feature new artists for your feedback. I want you to check him out and let me know what you think. If you don’t like it, you don’t like it but don’t be rude. Give him honest, functional feed back. We don’t make web coward comments like “kill yourself” around these parts. We build. You say you want better music? Then be a part of the new order of business and let him know what you think.

Here are some tracks he sent me:

Dear GangStarr Girl (The E Daney Edition)

Chez Lucienne
308 Malcolm X Blvd (Lenox Ave)
Between 125th and 126th Street
Price Range: $$$ (out of 5)
Rating: 4/5

I’ve been wanting to visit Paris for years but you can’t do that with no money (womp womp). However, my blog affiliate Kitty Bradshaw invited me to a nice dinner on Tuesday–specifically set up for bloggers–in the heart of France…kind of.

We dined at Chez Lucienne, which is located in Harlem. Yep, Harlem (it’s a different world there than it used to be folks). Chez Lucienne is a French Bistro nestled between 125th and 126th streets and Lennox Ave. I always used to walk past, curious about what was going on inside because it seemed out of place, but after checking it out, I will definitely go back. It’s a dimly lit cozy space that’s perfect for a romantic date, dinner party or simply unwinding after work. I joined bloggers and social media afficionados, Stevie NYC, Michael Street of Greasy Guide, Nikita Banks of The Single Girls Guide to Men, Monique from Suite October, Rae Holliday of Stuff Fly People Like, Phaon from Luxurious Prototype, Billy Ye and “P0ps” from J & R Music World digital for a complimentary appetizer, entree and desert.
