I talked about her so much that it was only a matter of time before I actually got to interview her. This was for Roc 4 Life.

One of the things that stood out about her was how laid back she was. Plus, she didn’t trip about being on camera. She was straight chillin with her hair in puffs and rocking sweats. She was mad cool and a lot more soft spoken than I thought she would be. She’s also tiny. Not short, just little, smaller than I anticipated (nothing wrong with that, just an observation). Her aura was amazing too.

GangStarr Girl Interviews Nneka for Roc 4 Life

The Nigerian/German songstress makes her United States debut today with Concrete Jungle but iTunes is also offering an early download of her album for $6.99 this week.

Nneka has been on the scene since 2003, working with German-Afghan producer DJ Farhot and released her debut album, Victim of Truth in 2005 in Germany, England, France, Netherlands, Nigeria and Japan to rave reviews. She is influenced by Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Mos Def and Lauryn Hill to whom people draw comparisons.
