Roy Ayers Black History Month

OkayPlayer caught up with Roy Ayers for their on going series, The Questions.  I love Roy Ayers’ music because there’s an organic element of cool that oozes on to his music that just speaks to me. I always imagined him to be one of the cool elder statesmen of the village that you can kick it with in the living room, and listen to his stories for hours. Blige, A Tribe Called Quest and other artists who have sampled him; he talks about scoring the Coffy movie soundtrack, and drops some intel about who James Baldwin was as a person, as they once shared an apartment.
