I have this new theory that we haven’t seen a mainstream lady MC dominate the way that Nicki Minaj has in so long that we just don’t know what to do anymore. Hence, your mother coming out with a Nicki Minaj diss.
O_o
At this point, the only battle that would actually be interesting with regard to Nicki Minaj between she and Lil’ Kim, like I said. This is just getting ridiculous.
I discovered this video of a woman who took a stand against some random douche bag who thought it was a good idea to molest her, on Jezebel.
She. Is. Amazing.
“Oh yes! Oh fucking yes!” Quote of the century.
Every woman has a story about being disrespected by some psycho who has issues with women but a lot of us don’t fight back out of fear for our lives or shame. In my case, sometimes I fought back sometimes I didn’t but the bottom line is it’s not cool no matter how you react and it surely isn’t a woman’s fault so watching this lady take control and rebuke this man was amazing. It also seemed like she had a little support, which is rare. Usually in situations like this, most people, men in particular, just stare but never get involved (some even find it funny).
I hope that really did go to jail and I hope he gets help. Ironically, this woman should have been granted interviews on some of the top morning shows in the country and plastered all over newspapers and more websites but instead our society focuses on viral video stars who promote fluff and inanity, smh.
This video was brought to Jezebel’s attention by a wonderful site called HollaBackNYC. It’s a space where women can share their stories about street harassment. Hopefully men can find their way to that site and check out some of the stories as well because there’s a disconnect between men in women when it comes to rape and sexual harassment. Some men don’t seem to realize that one day the victim could be their mother, sister, daughter or friend and that it’s not what a woman is wearing that determines whether she deserved certain treatment or not, it’s patriarchy and psychology. The hatred of women runs deep but we don’t talk about it enough.
Apparently Laurence Fishburne’s daughter, Montana Fishburne, thinks doing porn will jump start her acting career.
“I’ve watched how successful Kim Kardashian became and I think a lot of it was due to the release of her sex tape,” said Mo ‘Burne (don’t feel like typing out her whole name) according to Global Grind.
Now let me say this: I’ve seen that quote on various blogs but you know how you have to read about 20 blogs and put the pieces together in order to get something remotely close to the truth so that may not be what she said ver batim, however, she really is planning to use this film as a stepping stone into stardom. See the video below where she gives her thoughts on being a female in “the industry.”
Her influence is getting out of control. I want to like her as a rapper but I can’t get past the “Barbie” references and the goofy flow. Actually, I used to like her as a rapper but that was back when she did street DVDs and mixtapes. However, I realize that the Nicki Minaj then wouldn’t be as popular as she is now if she hadn’t switched things up. I interviewed her some time in 2008 and we talked about how she wanted to break away from being seen as the sex pot and planned to do things differently. It’s working for her because now people talk more about her weird faces and voice inflections than whether her butt is fake or not, but I’m not a fan of what it’s doing to impressionable minds who can’t tell the difference between entertainment and reality.
I’m sure you’ve seen this video by now of Tahiry calling ex-boyfriend Joe Budden a wife beater. Joe Budden appeared on The Morning After With Angela Yee this morning and denied the allegation but admitted to mushing her for cheating. He insinuated that she was dramatic and that the “wife beater” claim was her blowing things out of proportion from the mushing incident. You can listen to the actual audio here.
And I’m done with it. That’s the last time I post anything about these two on this site unless it’s something constructive or that I really care about. Domestic violence isn’t cool and who knows what happened between them but they both seem extra and were probably very toxic for each other. Hopefully Tahiry can find a better way to get attention and Joe Budden will learn not to feed into her negativity if she really is how he claims.
